A top tip for engaging your audience is to ask them questions, however, be careful with the use of Why?
- Why did you do that?
- Why are we here?
- Why is the company not expanding?
All of these sort of “why?” questions can be seen as a challenge by the audience, at worst it is seen as a personal attack,
When you want to engage your listeners ask open questions that focus on them in a friendly way for example:
Have you ever been in the situation when the company was not expanding?
What do you think could be done about it?
These sort of questions get the audience to think and listen to what you are saying without feeling defensive.
If you would like to know how to engage an audience, shouldn’t we be talking?
